Carrier air conditioning

Carrier air conditioners are some of the most popular air conditioners in the world, but modern air conditioning as we know it only began in 1902 when Willis Carrier was commissioned to create a stable environment for a Brooklyn printing plant. The first 'Apparatus for Treating Air' prevented minor changes in the dimensions of the paper used, and thereby prevented misalignment of four inks utilized in the printing process.

The Carrier Corporation bearing his name was founded in 1915 and has become the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. It has since been acquired in 1979 and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation.

Buyers should know that aside from the Carrier air conditioners brand, Carrier also owns several other popular central air conditioning brands including ArcoAire, Bryant, Comfortmaker, Day & Night, KeepitRite, Heil, Payne, Tempstar, and Totaline.

Carrier also owns commercial food refrigeration brand Tyler as well as Transicold, which specializes in refrigeration in transportation applications.
